Putting on a set of false eyelashes is the fastest way to dial up your makeup look from normal to extraordinary. Fake eyelashes can immediately take your ordinary, daily work face to a look ready for a night on the town, no other products required. And false eyelashes are one hundred percent necessary for a glamorous look, whether it’s for a photoshoot, a school ball, fancy event or other special occasions. Not to mention, every bride knows that a set of fake eyelashes is essential for a flirty, beautiful look on her wedding day.
False eyelash shapes
False eyelashes come in all kinds of different shapes, so whether you’re a full Instagram glam girl or like something more natural, you’ll be able to find a set of false eyelashes that perfectly suits your personality. Half-lashes are a good choice if you’re new to false eyelashes and want to try something easy. They are made to sit only on the outside half of your eyelid and are more simple to apply.
There are many different shapes of the false eyelash, too. Choose natural, fluffy-looking lashes, or a more flared out dramatic shape. Some false eyelashes are designed to give the appearance of a cat-eye and are longer at the outer corner.
Eyelashes conjure up images of drag queens for some people, and while we love drag queens, the look can be a bit much for the everyday woman. If you do want a fun, out-there look, you can get false eyelashes that are big and dramatic, and are even fun colours - although most of our lashes come in black.
That being said, there are countless women who swear by their false eyelashes and even refuse to go a day without wearing them. Can you imagine? It sounds like a lot of work, but when you see how beautiful your eyes look with a natural set of false eyelashes applied, you’ll understand why. Plus, applying false eyelashes is easy.
Fake eyelashes aren’t just for celebrities either. Every A-list celebrity you see on the red carpet is wearing false eyelashes, but they don’t look fake. Fake eyelashes just help finish any eye makeup look and help define and shape the eye for a more flattering look. False eyelashes can be particularly helpful for people who have thin, short or light-coloured natural eyelashes and want to give them a boost in appearance.
A safe way to get longer eyelashes
False eyelashes are the easiest way to make your natural eyelashes look longer, thicker and more voluminous. You can try all sorts of mascaras but at the end of the day you risk wasting your money and ending up with wasted tubes that go unused. Many mascaras also cause eye irritation for women, which has lead to more and more women choosing to use false eyelashes to give the appearance of lusher eyelashes.
The types of false eyelashes you apply at home are also more affordable and more comfortable than getting eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions might sound like an appealing prospect, but they’re expensive - prohibitively so, for most people. Furthermore, it’s a big commitment of your time to go see a professional just to get your eyelashes maintained and to have them filled in every few weeks. Instead, once you’ve mastered putting false eyelashes on yourself (and trust us, it’s easy) you won’t regret making the change.
A huge range of false eyelashes is available, and they don’t need to be expensive. At BeautifulGirl.co.nz we offer some of the most affordable false eyelashes in New Zealand, and discounts for buying them in bulk.
100% human hair false eyelashes
We carry the Red Cherry range of false eyelashes, made from 100% human hair. Human hair false eyelashes are the superior choice for quality, comfort and for looking natural, as they’re made from the same thing as your real natural eyelashes are.
Cheaper and lower quality false eyelashes are made from plastic. These kinds of lashes are very visible and don’t look real. They can look shiny and can also be painful as they aren’t flexible and can poke you in the eyes.
Applying false eyelashes
Here’s an easy way to apply false eyelashes. Put on all your eye makeup but don’t apply mascara just yet. Take a small amount of eyelash glue and run it along the band of each eyelash and hold it in the air for 30 seconds to give the glue a chance to get a little tacky. Then, using either a set of tweezers or your fingers, pick up the lashes by the eyelash side. Look down into a mirror so the top of your natural eyelashes is exposed. Then, carefully place the false eyelash on top of your real eyelashes, so the glue is touching the skin of your eyelid just above your eyelashes (don’t glue the false ones to your real ones directly).
Don’t worry about getting the placement right first try. Just get the middle of the lash sitting in the middle of your eyelid. Then, use the tweezers or your fingertips to position first the inside corner, then the outside corner of the false eyelash. Keep looking down for a few moments to let the glue adhere properly.
To finish up your makeup look and make sure your false eyelashes are looking natural and integrated, use an eyelash curler after you’ve applied them. Then, apply a light coat of mascara to both your natural and false lashes together.
Reusable false eyelashes
Furthermore, you can reuse one set of false eyelashes multiple times if you take care of them. One set of lashes will give you five or more users. In order to reuse them, peel them off carefully at the end of the day and store them in the packaging they came in. You can pinch off any residual glue which should come off quite easily. Then, dip the end of a cotton bud in makeup remover or micellar water and run it along the lash band to remove any traces of glue, eyeliner or mascara. The lashes will be good as new and ready to put on again for your next look.
